We have considerable expertise in dealing with costs negotiations in all areas. We have a team of consultants, whose role has been developed to incorporate negotiation of costs. They are not simply costs negotiators. We believe our consultants' experience in negotiating means they are best placed to deal with the resolution of costs for clients. This leaves our clients free to focus on fee-earning work, rather than on costs recovery and, additionally, they do not have to worry about accumulating the specialist knowledge required to deal with such cases.

The Court Team

We have a specialist Court team who are dedicated to the attendance at detailed assessment hearings, usually attending several each week, covering all regions throughout England and Wales.

Our Legal Cost negotiation team deals successfully with costs negotiators, solicitors and insurance company representatives on a regular basis, adopting a tough but realistic approach. With our experienced legal cost negotiators, we are able to provide an estimate of the time likely to be taken in negotiations, to assist our clients with their budgets and cash flow; which is particularly important within the modern practice.

If it becomes clear that the matter is unlikely to be settled by negotiation, we will:

»Prepare a detailed assessment bill (if not already prepared).

Jennings legal cost negotiation team has considerable expertise and excellent advocacy skills, gained through regular attendance at the SCCO, County Courts and District Registries. They undertake a significant volume of complex work, including cases where costs run into several hundred thousand pounds.

Once a detailed assessment hearing date is fixed, the Court team member will deal with all matters through to the hearing, including (where appropriate), attempts to negotiate a settlement. We will deal with lodgement of papers in readiness for the assessment.
